William Leo Hagerty Jr., 60, of Owensville,  passed away Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, at his residence with family by his side.

He was born Dec. 1, 1963, to William Leo Sr. and Patricia Ann (Kavanaugh) Hagerty in Wichita, Kan.

He was united in marriage to Deanna Smith, July 31, 2024, in Owensville.

William was a member and a student of St. Michaels in Shrewsberry and the Owensville Moose Lodge. He was raised in St. Louis with his parents. He attended Bishop DuBourg High School and graduated from South County Technical School 1982 in St. Louis. He enjoyed many outdoor activities such as boating on the Mississippi River, water skiing, golf, hunting and camping on his lot at Lake Northwoods. Bill met his wife, Deanna, in Feb. 1998 in Owensville. Deanna has two children Lucretia and Kenneth. Bill was active in their lives growing up. He enjoyed the children and the grandchildren. In 2007, Bill and Deanna acquired a river cabin on the Gasconade River where they had a weekend place to enjoy with the children. Bill played the piano and loved old country music. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He loved gatherings with family and friends. He didn’t know a stranger and made friends easily. Bill was an experienced and talented carpenter and his craftsmanship and pride showed in his finished work. Bill was a wonderful man. His honesty, integrity, kindness and pride made him a good man. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by parents, William Sr. and Patricia Ann; and brother, John Hagerty.

He is survived by wife, Deanna of their home; stepchildren, Lucretia Smith of Owensville and Kenneth Schneiderheinze Jr. of Union; grandchildren, Greyson Cole Smith, Jakob Cory Oliver Logan and Riley Madisynn Logan; sister, Diana Hagerty-Grant of Tacoma, Wash.; and dear uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Sept. 1, at 4 p.m. at Bill and Deanna’s Deck on the Gasconade River near Held’s Island and Sept. 21, at 2 p.m. at Lake Northwoods pavilion.
