Anna Emma (Stratman) Muenks Kever, 91, Loose Creek, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024, at StoneBridge Senior Living Center in Westphalia surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Dec. 22, 1932, to the late George Joseph and Christina (Luecke) Stratman, in Vienna.
She attended Visitation Grade School in Vienna and was a 1951 graduate of Vienna High School.
Anna was united in marriage to Gerald Muenks Sept. 5, 1955, at Visitation Catholic Church in Vienna. He preceded her in death March 2, 1971. On Oct. 20, 1973, she was united in marriage to James Kever at Immaculate Conception Church in Loose Creek and they made their home in Frankenstein. He preceded her in death Dec. 31, 1995.
Before her marriage, Anna worked as a bookkeeper for Jefferson City Baking Company and began working at the Bank of Bonnots Mill Jan. 2, 1967. She worked at Heritage Bank in Loose Creek and Taos and was a loyal employee, retiring from Legends Bank in Loose Creek in 2011 after 44 years of service. During part of that time, she was a bookkeeper for James A. Kever Construction.
Anna enjoyed making homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, pies, cookies, Christmas candy and cakes. Steve’s Restaurant employed her to bake bread for their Loose Creek location. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and canning, listening to music and bowling. Anna embroidered a set of tea towels for each grandchild for their wedding gift. She loved playing Rummy with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Anna also enjoyed attending their school events and other activities and even made it to Springfield for a hockey game or two. She loved to travel, going on many bank bus tours. Anna went to Lank, Germany in 2002 with the German Heritage Society and then hosted a guest from Germany in 2004. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
Anna was a devoted parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek where she was a choir member and a member of the St. Anne Sodality. She sang many solos for weddings and funerals, making the liturgy special for those involved. Anna attended daily Mass as much as possible. She was also a choir member at Our Lady Help of Christians and was a member of the Altar Sodality in Frankenstein.
We will be forever grateful to those who took care of her in her home, as well as the staff at Harbor Place and StoneBridge Senior Living Center for the care and compassion she received.
Anna enjoyed every opportunity to spend time with family and friends. She was a very dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and caring friend to all.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Gerald Muenks and James Kever; parents, George and Christina; granddaughter, Mary Ann Kliethermes; siblings, Sister Agnella Stratman, A.S.C., Theresa Muenks and husband Wilbert (Billy) and George Stratman; sisters-in law and brothers-in-law, Leonard Muenks and wife Alvina, Dorothy Schmitz and husband Virgil, Laurine Bias and husband Lucian, Helen Jacquin and husband Robert, Wilma Kever, Linus Kever and Agnes Kever.
Anna is survived by children: Diane Kliethermes and husband Gary of Frankenstein, Glenn Muenks and wife Karen, Kevin Muenks and wife Terri and Leon Muenks, all of Loose Creek and Karen Buckman and husband Keith of Fair Grove; grandchildren, Aaron Kliethermes and wife Michelle, Mindy Kremer and husband Pat, Nathan Kliethermes and wife Jennifer, Evan Kliethermes and wife Whitney, Connor Muenks and wife Ashley, Claire Muenks and fiancé Chase Dudenhoeffer, Kyle Muenks and wife Linsay, Brandon Muenks and wife Christen, Kara Muenks, Emma Kate, Korrie and Kurt Buckman, Austin Muenks and wife Erica, Tyler Muenks and wife Raegan and Carly Muenks; great-grandchildren, Logan, Blake, Grant, Charlotte, Vera, Gerald, Faye, Josie, Wyatt, Ava, Ritter, Moxley, Braylen and Jett; sisters-in-law, Nina Stratman of Vienna, Lillian Konnyu and husband Ernie of San Jose, Calif., Sister Cathryn Kever of Milwaukee, Wis., Leonard and Florence Kever of Frankenstein, Patricia Kever Dickneite and husband, Dan of Mokane, and Linda Kever Troesser and husband David of Bonnots Mill; and many loved nieces and nephews.
A prayer service will be held at 3 p.m. with visitation following from 4 until 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Immaculate Conception Church in Loose Creek. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25, with Fr. Anthony (Tony) Rinaldo officiating. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Loose Creek.
Memorial contributions suggested to Immaculate Conception School Foundation or the Alzheimer Association.
