Franklin Delano Wright, 83, of Owensville, passed away Monday, Sept. 2, 2024, at his residence.

He was born May 4, 1941, to Edward Louis and Annie (Carry) Wright in Crawford County.

He was first married to Judy Blankenship April 30, 1960, in Japan, Mo., and to this union six children were born. He later married Linda Hopwood Dec. 6, 1991, in Branson.

Frank was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and enjoyed teaching Sunday school. He was also a member of Sullivan Masonic Lodge No. 69, Owensville Lodge No. 624, Eastern Star Sullivan 105 and Easter Star Owensville 414.

He had many hobbies of which were gardening and fishing. He loved sharing his harvest with neighbors and friends. On July 4th he delighted in treating friends and family to a community fireworks display which included lots of fried fish and homemade ice cream. He enjoyed creating a large Christmas light display that grew bigger each year. He appreciated comments from visitors on which part of the display were their favorites. Watching car races was another one of his favorite past times. He traveled with his wife, Linda, to Knoxville, Iowa, to watch sprint cars and late models and to Tulsa, Okla., for the Chili Bowl. His favorite race car driver was his great nephew, Jesse Stovall.

He was preceded in death by parents, Edward and Annie; sons, Dion Wright and Ron Luhring; brother, Raymond Wright; and brother-in-law, Gilbert Stovall.

He is survived by wife, Linda of their home; children, Nancy Jones and husband Jim, Eddie Wright and wife Valery, Leron Wright and wife Shannon, Ardel Wright and wife Melissa, Cordel Wright and wife Christidel all of Owensville and John Luhring of Bourbon; sister, Thelma Stovall of Reeds Spring; sister-in-law, Ruth Wright of Washington; grandchildren, Anthony Jones and Whitney Erhart, Dakota, Shawnee and Kiowa Wright, Ella, Addison and Brynn Wright, Keegan, Karlee (Nicks) and Sawyer Wright and Caden Wright; and great-grandchildren, Callie Mae Jones, Anaya Erhart, Colter Wright, Luke Wright, Sutton Wright and Vietta Nicks.

Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 6, from 4–8 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Spurgeon officiating. Burial will be in Licklider Cemetery in Jakes Prairie.
