Turning back Belle last Tuesday night sweeping both the junior varsity and varsity matches, Jamie Ridenhour’s Owensville Dutchgirl volleyball team welcomed Salem’s Lady Tigers to Owensville High School (OHS) for a tripleheader.

Winning the freshman and JV matches earlier in the night, OHS went for the clean sweep in the varsity match.

Dropping the first two sets 25-21 and 25-23, Owensville battled back to win the next three sets and the match by scores of 21-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-23 and 15-7.

Sophomore Mya Vandegriffe led OHS with 15 kills followed closely by senior Madi Lewis with 13 kills and sophomore Lily Sample with 10 kills.

Senior Camryn Caldwell served up a pair of aces while the orange and black got single aces from Ruvia Nowack, Clara Julius, Reece Hampton and Addi Menz.

Vandegriffe also paced the Dutchgirls with six blocks to go along with five from Menz and four from Callie Koelling.

Senior Liz Adams had her shovels ready as she led OHS with 39 digs followed in double digits by Julius (12), Ruvia Nowack (11) and Sample (10).

Hampton dished out a team-high 24 assists while Caldwell also reached double figures with 17 assists.

Courtney Hinson’s freshman Dutchgirls kept their record unblemished winning their match in three sets 22-25, 25-15 and 25-10.

Emily McKinney’s JV Dutchgirls needed just two sets to win their match over Salem by scores of 25-18 and 26-24.

After Owensville swept Belle in two sets by scores of 25-9 and 25-15 in the JV match, the Dutchgirls needed four sets to claim Highway 28 bragging rights in the varsity match.

Dropping game one 25-18, OHS claimed the next three sets winning the match 18-25, 25-23, 25-14 and 25-16.

Menz posted a baker’s dozen (13) in the kill department followed by 10 apiece from Vandegriffe and Sample.

Caldwell served up four aces against Belle followed closely with three from Julius.

To go along with her 13 kills, Menz also paced the Dutchgirls with five blocks.

Along with her four aces, Caldwell led four Dutchgirl diggers in double figures with 16 followed by Adams (15), Cameron Nowack (12) and Julius (11).

Caldwell also dished out a team-high 38 assists.

Falling in three sets last Monday night at Rolla (25-15, 25-20 and 25-23), Ridenhour’s varsity Dutchgirls were led by Menz with seven kills and two blocks.

Adams recorded 17 digs to go with eight assists each from Caldwell and Hampton.

Also in Rolla, Owensville swept the freshman match in two sets 25-11 and 25-21 while the JV match also went to the Dutchgirls in two sets 25-20 and 25-22.
