At the regular meeting of the Gerald Board of Aldermen last Thursday, a motion was passed to drop the city’s plan to extend the city limits in all four directions.
The board went into a short executive session and returned to open meeting at 6:55 p.m. Ward 2 aldermen Cary Parker and
Corey Novotney made and seconded the motion respectively. The motion simply stated the board would “Drop annexation proceedings.” All aldermen voted in favor of the motion.
That ended a more than three-year long effort that originated as a proposal from the Planning and Zoning Commission to extend the city limits along certain roadways.
All four sitting aldermen were past members of the commission and helped develop the now defeated proposal.
